Game Developer / Educator / Researcher
CEO & Co-Founder, Leti Arts
Pioneering Africa's gaming industry, preserving culture through interactive storytelling, and building the future of STEAM education.
Building an entire industry, not just a company - through games, culture, and education.
Born to a Fine Arts lecturer and a Teacher, Eyram Tawia was nurtured by parents who recognized his creative attributes from the comics he drew as a child. He became fascinated with computers and taught himself to program. A journey that would lead him to spearhead the game industry across Sub-Saharan Africa.
As CEO and Co-Founder of Leti Arts, Eyram believes the game industry can be a transformative force for Africa's GDP, involving all skillsets across science and arts. He uses the STEAM approach, consciously blending Arts within engineering disciplines, to ignite the interest of young people in STEM-related fields.
He currently lectures at Ashesi University, championing the first-ever game design and development elective course, and is pursuing doctoral research at Loughborough University exploring the intersection of gaming, gamification, and politics in the Global South. As a narrative consultant, he contributed to the creation of Astra, the first Ghanaian character in Riot Games' Valorant.
Eyram has led gamification projects with USAID, JHPIEGO, UNDP, GIZ, and numerous global NGOs. He also serves as Country Director for Ambitious Africa, a Nordic organization leading change through young people, and is the author of Uncompromising Passion, a book documenting his journey as an African video game developer.
